What is AtlanticNote?
AtlanticNote is a free social entertainment application centred on a wizard-laboratory reel experience. It is not a real-money platform. No payment is accepted, no prizes are awarded, and no credits have monetary value. The visual format deliberately uses reel-grid mechanics for entertainment purposes — it is an aesthetic and interactive choice, not a financial instrument. Adults aged 18 and older are the intended audience because the thematic presentation draws from a genre conventionally associated with adult entertainment.
We operate this way because we believe the most honest and sustainable approach to entertainment software is one that does not create financial stakes. The absence of real-money consequence is intentional and permanent.
Adults Only — 18+
AtlanticNote is restricted to adults aged 18 years and older. This restriction exists because the thematic content — reel-style mechanics, styled after adult entertainment conventions — is not appropriate for minors. We enforce this through an age-gate that requires explicit confirmation on every visit. If you share devices with younger family members, we strongly encourage you to use browser-level parental controls to restrict access to this domain.
If you are under 18 and have reached this page, please close the browser tab. No part of AtlanticNote is designed for or directed at you.
Entertainment Is Supposed to Feel Light
Good entertainment is restorative. It offers a moment of escape from routine, a small challenge to engage with, an aesthetic world to inhabit briefly. It should leave you feeling better — or at least equally well — as when you arrived. It should not create anxiety, urgency, obligation, or craving.
AtlanticNote is designed to be used in short, casual sessions. The credit-reset function is always visible. There is no progress system that penalises you for stopping. There are no daily login bonuses designed to create a habit loop. The experience is complete in a single visit. These are deliberate design choices intended to keep play genuinely recreational.
Walk Away When It Stops Being Fun
The most important rule of responsible play is also the simplest: if it stops feeling fun, stop. There is no score on AtlanticNote worth chasing at the cost of your comfort. Virtual credits are not an investment. A session that ends early is not a failure — it is a sensible response to your own state.
You do not owe the platform another spin. You do not have to reach a round number before closing the tab. The laboratory will be here when you want to return. Or it won't matter, and that's fine too.
Warning Signs to Look Out For
The following are signs that a relationship with any entertainment or gaming product may have moved from recreational to problematic. They apply whether the product involves real money or not:
- ▸ Playing longer than you intended, repeatedly
- ▸ Feeling irritable or restless when not playing
- ▸ Using the platform to escape stress, anxiety, or difficult feelings rather than for enjoyment
- ▸ Lying to others about how much time you spend playing
- ▸ Neglecting work, relationships, or responsibilities to play
- ▸ Feeling that you cannot enjoy a day without a gaming session
- ▸ Spending real money on any gaming product (including real-money platforms) beyond what you can comfortably afford to lose
- ▸ Experiencing guilt or shame after a session
If you recognise more than two of these in yourself, the situation may benefit from professional attention. The organisations listed below are equipped to help and will not judge you.
A Short Self-Check
Take a moment to answer these honestly:
- Am I playing for longer than I planned in the last few sessions?
- Did I open AtlanticNote today because I was bored or anxious, rather than because I genuinely wanted to play?
- Have I thought about the game when I am not playing it?
- Would I feel embarrassed to tell a friend or family member how much time I spend on this?
- Do I feel a pull to return to the game after closing it, even when I had planned to stop?
If your honest answer to two or more of these is "yes," consider speaking with one of the organisations below. You do not have to be in crisis for these services to be appropriate — they offer guidance at all levels of concern.
What to Do If Something Feels Off
If you notice yourself slipping into patterns that concern you, here are immediate practical steps:
- Close the browser tab now and put the device down for at least an hour.
- Tell a trusted person how you are feeling — out loud, not in text.
- If real-money platforms are involved, contact your bank to request a self-exclusion or deposit limit before returning.
- Reach out to one of the free, confidential organisations listed below. They can help you assess the situation and decide on next steps.
- If you are in Ontario, call ConnexOntario: 1-866-531-2600 — available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at no cost.
If Someone Close to You Needs Help
Problem gaming affects more than the person experiencing it. If a partner, parent, or friend has a pattern of gaming or real-money activity that worries you, the organisations below also provide guidance for family members and close contacts. Gamblers Anonymous in particular has GamAnon groups specifically for people affected by someone else's problem behaviour — no gambling history of your own is required to attend.
Raising the issue with someone you care about is difficult. The support organisations can advise on how to approach that conversation effectively.
How We Keep AtlanticNote Safe by Design
The following design decisions in AtlanticNote are intended to reduce the risk of compulsive use:
- No real-money transactions of any kind — financial stakes are structurally impossible
- No persistent accounts — no leaderboards, no social comparison, no public score history
- No push notifications, no daily bonuses, no artificial urgency
- Visible credit reset at all times — no friction to stopping
- Auto-play capped at 10 rounds — no infinite auto-spin
- Responsible-play messaging and regulator links on every page, in the footer and in a dedicated section of the homepage
